IR thermometers are used to check temp readings during an investigation as it is believed when an entity is around the temp will change either as a cold spot or sometimes it my get warmer. After talking with some investigators they agree that thermocouple thermometers are more accurate and instantaneous. here are a few place you can buy them I was told to get either a get either Type-J or Type -K.
