Hi I'm new. I am so glad I found this website. I wanted to share something that happened to me in August of 2006 up at Desoto Park. I have discribed it on a couple of other forums to see if anyone could tell me what they think it could have been and it pretty much boiled down to it could have been many things and I'll probably never know, but now I am wondering has anyone else seen anything like it in that area. I'm going to copy and paste the story from another forum that I put it on because the way I type I will be here all night if not. Here it is...
I was on a camping trip in Alabama in August a couple of years ago. We were camping at a state park and I was sitting out at the picnic table at our campsite and there was a walking trail straight in front of me that went down into the woods and kind of turned to the right. I was just looking down into the woods and I saw this big black mass come down out of the top of a tree. My mind told me it had to be a bird (I guess because it came out of a tree) but this thing was so big, it would have to be a condor. It didn't really fly down, it was more like it was falling. What I saw was pretty much as if you threw a large piece of black cloth out of a tree. I could see points, like corners of cloth and it just kind of rolled and twisted it's way down. Something told me it just wasn't right so I just kind of sat there and stared at where it should have landed. I sat several minutes before I decided to go into the RV and tell my family what I had seen. I was reaching for the door but still looking out into the woods and I saw this "thing" I don't know what it was. It looked like a human form, was wearing a black cloak like coat that went to the ground and had a pointed hood. It was totally black. You know, most blacks you can see some light in the color but this was totally black. It walked slowly across the path and into the woods. Now, this was August in Alabama and it was around 100 degrees. I just can't believe it was any kind of joke or anything. I didn't want to freak because the people next to us were outside eating and they didn't seem to see anything so I hurried inside and just started telling my family. My daughter, her husband and myself decided to go out into the woods to see if we could see anything else. We didn't see any sign of it but where it had crossed the path, the brush was so thick that nobody could have gone through there without fighting their way through it. That's it...does anybody have any ideas?
My husband told me to ask one of the rangers if they had heard of anyone seeing anything like that, but I mean, what was I going to say,"seen any black hooded creatures falling out of the trees lately?" If anyone has any information please respond. Thanks.
